Kathy Hilton-Hilton Lands Iconic Marilyn Photo As
A Housewarming Gift
June 24, 2008
Socialite and reality TV star Kathy Hilton has bought
daughter Nicky an original Bert Stern photograph of Marilyn Monroe as
a housewarming gift.
Kathy hosted a recent charity exhibition for the Make-A-Wish Foundation
in Los Angeles and decided to buy the famous photo to help raise cash
for one of her favourite causes.
She says, "When she moved into her new house I gave her the signed
Bert Stern shot. Nicky was delighted.
"We're all big fans of Marilyn Monroe. I own a couple of Murray
Garrett shots of her. She's a phenomenon, mesmerising and she's still
so popular. She's bigger than ever."
Kathy and her famous daughters Paris and Nicky will host the opening
night of a new Garrett exhibition in Los Angeles on Friday night (27Jun08).
The 82-year-old photographer, who will share the Photographers Gallery
space with another Hilton family favourite Slim Aaron, captured Kathy's
husband Nicky and his brother Barron as boys and took iconic portraits
of their father Conrad.
Nicky Hilton is hoping to add to her collection of Garretts at the launch,
which will benefit non-profit P.S. Arts.
She says, "I've been purchasing Slim's work for years. His images
are simultaneously iconic and very intimate. I am happy to be a part
of this show, selecting images I have loved ever since I discovered
them."
